Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Plant antioxidants play a significant role in the prevention and treatment of cancer. Cancer is accompanied by oxidative stress, and the disturbed balance between the production and neutralization of free radicals is responsible for changes in cellular structures and influences the processes occurring in cells and tissues. Free radical reactions may result in cancerous changes. Free radicals of melanin biopolymers play a special role in the cancer process. Antioxidant compounds provide protection against free radicals, and they are abundant in plant raw materials.

Currently, significant progress and development of measurement techniques and methods for analyzing the interaction of antioxidants with free radicals are being observed. UV-Vis spectrophotometry and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy are important methods for studying the magnitude and kinetics of the interaction of antioxidant plant extracts with free radicals. Complex plant raw materials are sought as a material for obtaining effective antioxidant plant extracts of importance in cancer diseases.

I am honored to invite you to publish your works in the Special Issue of Molecules titled “Advances on Plant Extracts: Antioxidant and Anticancer Properties”. I would like to draw your particular attention to issues related to the development of experimental methods in the study of plant antioxidants, as well as the effectiveness of antioxidants in protecting cells against cancer transformations. I kindly invite you to send your publications on this subject in the form of short communications, original research articles, and review papers.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
