Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the years, laparoscopic surgery has evolved due to the numerous technological innovations that have paved the way for new therapeutic approaches. Minimally invasive surgery is the standard approach for several abdominal procedures (hernias, appendicitis, acute cholecystitis, colorectal cancer, and gynecological surgery). Surgical innovations in laparoscopic surgery have radically changed the methods of treating abdominal pathologies.

Laparoscopic surgery has widely extended its applications with the development of different materials, miniaturized instruments, and robotic-assisted surgery and has been adopted in several countries as the golden standard for abdominal surgery. Robotics may offer technological and ergonomic benefits that overcome the limitations associated with conventional laparoscopy. In addition, the development of laparoscopic procedures TAPP (transabdominal preperitoneal) and TEP (totally extraperitoneal), laparoscopic hysterectomy, colectomy, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy have allowed us to offer the advantages of a minimally invasive approach, such as laparoscopy, to our patients. In this Special Issue, we would like to move this field forward by inviting original clinical and basic research articles, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews focused on new advances in laparoscopic abdominal surgery.

The purpose of this Special Issue is to address recent developments in laparoscopic surgical procedures and new technological advances in abdominal surgery. We look forward to receiving your submissions and to advancing the field of laparoscopic surgery.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
