Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Despite the plethora of achievements in pancreatic research over the past decades, diseases of the pancreas continue to place a substantial and growing burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Along the disease continuum from acute to chronic pancreatitis and eventually pancreatic cancer, there are still several unresolved issues regarding prevention, early diagnosis, and optimal management for each of these entities. In the light of novel research methods and technologies, such as omics-analyses or artificial intelligence, there is an enormous potential to overcome these challenges.

Therefore, this Special Issue aims to highlight recent advancements in the understanding, diagnosis, and management of pancreatic disorders, spanning both benign and malignant conditions. Here, we gather original research and comprehensive reviews that present emerging insights into molecular mechanisms, risk factors, and disease progression, as well as innovations in imaging, biomarkers, endoscopic and surgical interventions. A particular focus is set on early detection strategies, personalized therapeutic approaches, and multidisciplinary care models that improve patient outcomes. Moreover, contributing articles expand current knowledge by exploring the role of diet, nutritional status, metabolic factors, and complications in pancreatic disease management, reflecting the growing recognition of holistic and patient-centered care. By integrating results from basic science, translational and epidemiological research, as well as clinical trials, this Special Issue will provide clinicians and researchers with an up-to-date resource and a starting point for stimulating further advances in this intriguing and rapidly evolving field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Medicina is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
