Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most commonly encountered heart conditions, with a broad impact on all health services across primary and secondary care. The prevalence of AF is expected to double in the coming decades as a consequence of the ageing population, an increasing burden of comorbidities, improved awareness, and new technologies for its detection. The effects of AF are variable across individual patients; however, morbidity from AF remains highly concerning. Patients with AF can suffer from a variety of symptoms and poor quality of life. Heart failure is not a single pathological diagnosis but rather a clinical syndrome consisting of cardinal symptoms (e.g., breathlessness, ankle swelling, and fatigue) that may be accompanied by signs (e.g., elevated jugular venous pressure, pulmonary crackles, and peripheral oedema). Heart failure as a consequence of AF is well appreciated; the identification of the etiology of underlying cardiac dysfunction is mandatory in the diagnosis of HF as the specific pathology can determine subsequent treatment. Most commonly, HF occurs due to myocardial dysfunction, either systolic, diastolic, or both.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, where you are welcome to report your findings through original articles and reviews of the literature regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic management of AF and HF patients.
Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the utility of imaging technologies for diagnosis and prognosis definition in these patients, focusing on the emergence of new tools for preprocedural evaluation and the most recent therapeutic options (medical and surgical).

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
