Dear Colleagues,
Piezoelectric materials are a type of functional material that can transform energy between mechanical stress and electric fields.
As application requirements continue to evolve and increase, the advanced applications of piezoelectric materials have become a focal point. For example, incorporating piezoelectric materials into smart materials to allow them to react to external stimuli like temperature, pressure, or electric fields; utilizing the energy conversion capabilities of piezoelectric materials to facilitate energy harvesting in wireless sensor networks, thus reducing the need for battery replacements; fabricating implantable devices that respond to physiological signals within the body, such as pacemakers and intelligent drug delivery systems; and in the acoustic field, using piezoelectric materials to produce ultrasonic imaging equipment, acoustic drivers, and acoustic sensors.
With the progress of material science and engineering technologies, the performance and application spectrum of piezoelectric materials are expanding continuously, and there may be many more innovative applications on the horizon. This special issue is dedicated to piezoelectric ceramics and their applications, involving manuscripts and review articles on topics such as the research and development of various dimensional piezoelectric materials, processing routes, physical properties (including structural, mechanical properties, coupled phenomena, ferroelectric and dielectric characterizations), modeling studies, and research on the application-oriented aspects of these materials.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
