Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Superlubricity is described as an ideal state required to achieve negligible friction and wear. A great deal of attention has been paid to searching for new materials possessing superlubricity properties and exploring their inner mechanisms, involving incommensurate contact, Coulomb repulsion, electrohydrodynamic effects, hydration processes, and interfacial phenomena between sliding surfaces. Growing research efforts focus on revealing microscopic interfacial behaviors and tribochemical reactions during friction processes; however, incomplete understanding of cross-scale interfacial evolution laws limits the design of advanced lubricants and the engineering realization of stable superlubricity.

This Special Issue “Interfacial Phenomena in Lubrication: From Tribochemistry to Superlubricity” intends to unite both academic and industrial experts to advance frontier research on interfacial phenomena in lubrication and promote innovation in the application of superlubricity materials, thereby fostering new ideas for future research and expanding knowledge in this field.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Lubricants is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
