IBERTRIB 2022—11th Iberian Conference on Tribology
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to cordially welcome you to IBERTRIB 2022—11th Iberian Conference on Tribology, that for the fifth time will take place in Portugal. It will be organized by Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal together with Instituto Superior Técnico and will be held in Setúbal on 6th and 7th October 2022.
The aim of this conference is to spread the knowledge on the recent developments, advances and challenges in different tribology topics. The participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss their work with other researchers and stakeholders from academy and industry. It will be a privileged forum to promote the collaboration between research groups and integrate young researchers. The conference will count with:
- Plenary sessions given by renowned speakers of the subject.
- Individual presentations on different topics of tribology.
- Poster sessions.
- Social activities.
We would like to acknowledge all those who worked hard to make this conference a reality: speakers, reviewers, session chairs, sponsors and all the volunteers.

Publication opportunity:
Authors of presentations given at IBERTRIB 2022 are invited to submit research papers regarding their work to be published in a Special Issue <https://www.mdpi.com/journal/lubricants/special_issues/G0KC20XGZO> of Lubricants. The papers will go through the regular peer review process. Accepted papers will receive a 50% discount on the regular publication fee; please send the tentative title and abstract to the Organizing Commission (info@ibertrib2022.tecnico.ulisboa.pt) with the subject “Submission to Lubricants Special Issue” in advance, and CC the Editorial Office (Lubricants@mdpi.com).
Papers are solicited in, but need not be limited to, the following topics:
- Surface engineering, surface treatment, and coatings;
- Characterization techniques and testing methods;
- Modeling and simulation in tribology;
- Friction and wear;
- Lubricants and additives;
- Biotribology;
