Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to join a collective effort to advance translational neuroscience through innovative neuromodulation and neuroregulation strategies.

Brain disorders represent one of the most pressing global health challenges, affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide and imposing a substantial personal, social, and economic burden. Advances in neuroscience over the past decades have significantly improved our understanding of the molecular, cellular, and network-level mechanisms underlying neurological and psychiatric disorders. At the same time, novel neuromodulation and neuroregulation strategies—ranging from non-invasive techniques such as neurofeedback, transcranial magnetic and electrical stimulation to invasive approaches including deep brain stimulation—have presented promising avenues for both research and clinical intervention. Integrating fundamental neuroscience with innovative interventional technologies is essential for advancing precision medicine approaches in brain disorders and for translating basic discoveries into effective therapies.

This Special Issue aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform that bridges basic and translational neuroscience with experimental and clinical neuromodulation and neuroregulation approaches in the context of brain disorders. The topic is well aligned with the journal’s scope by addressing mechanisms of disease, innovative therapeutic strategies, and translational research with relevance for human health. The Special Issue will highlight recent advances, emerging concepts, and methodological innovations that contribute to understanding and modulating dysfunctional brain circuits across neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to: neural circuit dysfunction in brain disorders and psychopathology; molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuroplasticity; non-invasive and invasive neuromodulation and neuroregulation techniques; biomarkers—neuroimaging and electrophysiological—of brain dysfunction; computational and systems neuroscience approaches; closed-loop and adaptive stimulation systems; multimodal biomarker integration; translational and clinical studies in neurological and psychiatric conditions.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Life is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
