Dear Colleagues,
Landslides and other natural hazards, such as floods, represent some of the most pressing challenges in the management of our environments and, when combined with increasing anthropogenic pressure, can lead to elevated levels of risk. On the other hand, resilient land-use planning integrates scientific knowledge on susceptibility and hazard into decision-making processes, guiding the spatial allocation of remediations, activities and infrastructures according to acceptable risk levels. This approach can be based on different techniques, such as detailed geomorphological mapping, susceptibility analyses, climate studies, multi-temporal monitoring and the use of predictive models to identify unstable areas and possible evolution scenarios. By restricting or regulating development in high-hazard zones, promoting adaptive land management practices and enhancing early warning and emergency planning, land-use planning becomes a proactive tool for risk mitigation rather than a reactive response to disasters.
This Special Issue aims to bring together scientific contributions that address landslides and other natural hazards, with specific focus on their implications for resilient land-use planning. The objective is to promote integrated approaches that link the analysis of geomorphological and geotechnical processes with operational tools supporting decision-making and are capable of guiding risk-aware as well as sustainable territorial management.
Contributions may include, but are not limited to:
- landslide susceptibility, hazard and risk assessment studies;
- impacts of climate change on slope instability and landslide dynamics;
- interactions between landslides, strategic infrastructure and urban systems;
- multi-sensor monitoring techniques and multi-temporal analyses;
- predictive modelling and evolutionary scenarios;
- the integration of hazard information into land-use planning, zoning and territorial governance.
Studies presenting innovative methodologies, applied case studies and best practices in risk reduction and adaptive planning are particularly encouraged.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
