Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Following the success of the first edition of this Special Issue in JPM, which generated significant attention and scientific contributions, we are pleased to announce the launch of its second edition.

The first edition gathered a variety of original studies and reviews addressing key areas of modern anesthesiology and pain management. These included ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques, multimodal analgesia protocols aimed at minimizing opioid consumption, perioperative pain control strategies in oncologic and vulnerable patients, and ethical challenges in communication and decision-making around pain care. Additionally, contributions explored postoperative pain assessment, long-term outcomes, and integrative approaches to enhance patient comfort and recovery.

Building on this foundation, the second edition aims to further explore advances in anesthetic techniques, pain management strategies across diverse clinical settings, and the implementation of personalized, patient-centered approaches. We encourage submissions that investigate innovative interventions, practical models for integrating pain services into clinical practice, and multidisciplinary frameworks that improve patient safety and outcomes.

We welcome original research articles, reviews, case series, and perspective papers from anesthesiologists, pain specialists, palliative care providers, and allied professionals involved in the complex care of patients experiencing acute or chronic pain.

This Special Issue offers a unique platform to reflect on current evidence, share best practices, and outline future directions for anesthesiology and pain medicine in the context of evolving healthcare systems.
