Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to invite you to contribute to our Special Issue, entitled “Personalized Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Approaches in Multiple Sclerosis: Challenges and Future Directions”. Personalized medicine is an increasingly important issue in medical practice, and especially in neurological disorders, such as multiple sclerosis. Research regarding the role of patients’ intrinsic factors (lifestyle, comorbidities) is growing, and using a personalized approach tailored to the patient’s need is a mainstay of proper treatment, assuring the best possible result to reshape patient’s disability trajectory. However, even though new risk and protective factors are being discovered and their potential in guiding clinicians’ decisions has been established, there is a dearth of research in this field, especially regarding the possible adjunctive role of cognitive and motor rehabilitation.
The aim of this Special Issue is to focus on new and personalized treatment approaches that, besides treatment with DMTs, can positively influence the disease course. This will be achieved with a critical approach, which is important to emphasize challenges and future directions.
This Special Issue, therefore, aims to highlight the genetic, molecular, lifestyle, and environmental factors influencing both disease course (disability and cognitive issues) and their treatment in a personalized fashion (e.g., by advanced patient profiling). Original articles, reviews, and expert opinions/commentaries are welcome to be submitted to this Special Issue.
