Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The field of implant dentistry is experiencing rapid transformations due to the development of novel biomaterials. This Special Issue focuses on the latest advancements in dental implant materials, surface modifications, and bone substitute grafts. We aim to gather research on how these materials interact with host tissues to promote osseointegration and prevent peri-implant diseases. Existing literature outlines the need for materials with enhanced antimicrobial properties and biomechanical stability. This issue will provide a platform for original research and comprehensive reviews. We will explore the clinical applications and laboratory testing of such materials. Topics of interest include titanium alloys, zirconia implants, biodegradable membranes, and 3D-printed scaffolds. We invite researchers and clinicians to submit their findings. This will help advance our understanding of how these innovations translate to better patient outcomes.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Functional Biomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
