Dear Colleagues,
The field of nanocarrier-based drug delivery has undergone rapid evolution over the past two decades, enabling unprecedented control over drug loading, targeting, and release kinetics. Advanced nanocarriers—including polymeric, lipid-based, inorganic, hybrid, and stimuli-responsive systems—have demonstrated the potential to overcome key limitations of conventional therapeutics, such as poor bioavailability, systemic toxicity, and lack of spatial and temporal control.
In this Special Issue, we welcome the submission of original research articles and reviews that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Design and engineering of advanced nanocarriers for drug delivery and controlled release, including polymeric, lipid-based, inorganic, and hybrid systems;
- Stimuli-responsive and smart nanocarriers activated by external or internal triggers (e.g., magnetic fields, ultrasound, light, pH, redox conditions, or enzymes);
- Mechanisms of controlled, triggered, and site-specific drug release/targeting at the nano–bio interface;
- Computational modeling and multiphysics simulations of nanocarrier behavior under external fields (e.g., electromagnetic, acoustic, and thermal), including transport, activation, and release kinetics;
- In silico design and optimization of nanocarriers and treatment parameters for personalized or precision medicine applications;
- Data-driven and AI-assisted approaches for predicting nanocarrier performance, biodistribution, and therapeutic outcomes;
- Multifunctional and theranostic nanocarriers integrating therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities;
- Interactions of nanocarriers with biological environments, including protein corona formation, immune response, and biodistribution;
- Integration of experimental and computational approaches for rational nanocarrier development;
- Preclinical validation of nanocarrier systems in relevant in vitro and in vivo models;
- Emerging clinical applications of nanocarrier-based drug delivery.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
