Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue delves into the multifaceted and evolving role of echocardiography in contemporary clinical practice. Echocardiography, a non-invasive and readily available imaging modality, is a cornerstone of the diagnosis, management, and prognosis assessment of a wide spectrum of cardiovascular diseases. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements, innovative techniques, and expanding clinical applications of echocardiography across diverse patient populations and clinical settings.
We will explore the utility of established echocardiographic techniques, such as transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography, in refining diagnostic accuracy and guiding therapeutic interventions for conditions ranging from heart failure and valvular heart disease to congenital heart defects and cardiomyopathies. Furthermore, this Special Issue will highlight the growing importance of advanced echocardiographic modalities, including three-dimensional echocardiography, strain imaging, and contrast echocardiography, in providing more detailed and quantitative assessments of cardiac structure and function.
The emerging applications of echocardiography in areas such as cardio-oncology, sports cardiology, and the management of cardiovascular complications in systemic diseases will also be addressed. We will also examine the integration of echocardiography with other imaging modalities and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of images. Ultimately, this Special Issue seeks to underscore the indispensable role of echocardiography as a dynamic and adaptable tool for improving patient care and outcomes in the ever-evolving landscape of cardiovascular medicine.
