Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce a new Special Issue, “Recent Progress and Future Directions in Orthopedic Oncology”, which we are editing for the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
Orthopedic oncology has witnessed significant advancements in recent years, with innovations in surgical techniques, imaging modalities, targeted therapies, and personalized treatment approaches. The management of primary and metastatic bone tumors remains a challenge, requiring a multidisciplinary approach that integrates surgery, radiotherapy, and systemic treatments. Emerging technologies, such as 3D-printed implants, computer-assisted navigation, and robotic-assisted surgery, are revolutionizing limb salvage procedures and reconstruction strategies. Furthermore, molecular and genetic insights are shaping the future of precision medicine in musculoskeletal oncology.
Despite these advances, critical questions remain regarding the optimal treatment strategies, long-term functional outcomes, and quality of life in patients undergoing complex orthopedic oncologic procedures. This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality research on key topics such as novel surgical techniques, oncologic outcomes, innovations in limb-sparing surgery, biomechanical considerations, and the integration of artificial intelligence in diagnosis and treatment planning.
We invite clinicians and researchers worldwide to contribute original studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and multidisciplinary perspectives. By bringing together cutting-edge research, this Special Issue will provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of orthopedic oncology and guide future directions in the field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
