Dear Colleagues,
The field of gastrointestinal surgery is experiencing a profound transformation driven by continuous technological innovation and the refinement of therapeutic strategies, particularly in oncologic surgery. Advances in molecular biology, imaging, and surgical technology are reshaping how gastrointestinal cancers are diagnosed and treated, opening new possibilities for improving surgical outcomes and enhancing patients’ quality of life. This Special Issue is dedicated to exploring the most recent progress and clinical applications that are shaping the future of gastrointestinal surgery.
Recent developments in minimally invasive procedures, robotic-assisted surgery, and enhanced recovery protocols have significantly advanced the safety, precision, and efficacy of gastrointestinal operations. At the same time, the integration of genomic and molecular insights, innovative diagnostic tools, and novel biomarkers is helping surgeons better assess disease progression and predict postoperative outcomes. Together, these advancements are contributing to a more refined and effective approach to gastrointestinal oncologic treatment.
By gathering contributions from leading experts in the field, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current trends and emerging technologies in gastrointestinal surgery. Through original research papers and reviews, we seek to highlight how modern surgical techniques, new treatment modalities, and interdisciplinary collaboration are driving progress in surgical oncology and setting new standards for patient care.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
