Dear Colleagues,
The management of pancreatic diseases is undergoing a profound transformation driven by the rapid evolution of endoscopic technologies. Over the past decade, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) have expanded their diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, reshaping clinical pathways for conditions ranging from pancreatic ductal abnormalities to cystic lesions and pancreatitis. Global trends show a steady rise in the incidence of pancreatic disorders, an increasing reliance on minimally invasive approaches, and a growing demand for accurate risk stratification tools that can guide timely and personalized interventions. These developments highlight the need for high‑quality evidence capable of informing practice and harmonizing approaches across centers and regions.
Despite remarkable progress, several challenges persist. The interpretation of pancreatic imaging remains heterogeneous, the optimal integration of EUS and ERCP is still evolving, and the standardization of advanced procedures varies widely across institutions. At the same time, new opportunities are emerging: artificial intelligence-enhanced imaging, novel stent technologies, and refined sampling techniques promise to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes. This Special Issue aims to capture this momentum, offering a platform for innovative research that bridges technological advances with real‑world clinical needs.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to the diagnosis, risk stratification, and interventional management of pancreatic diseases through EUS and ERCP. We welcome contributions addressing technological innovation, procedural standardization, clinical outcomes, and multidisciplinary integration. Original research, reviews and real‑world data analyses are encouraged, with a particular interest in studies that clarify how endoscopic approaches can improve patient selection, safety, and long‑term outcomes.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Diagnostic applications of EUS in pancreatic diseases;
- EUS‑guided tissue acquisition and sampling strategies;
- EUS‑guided therapeutic interventions;
- ERCP techniques and innovations in pancreatic disorders;
- Stent technologies and management of ductal strictures;
- Integration of EUS and ERCP in combined or sequential workflows;
- Artificial intelligence, advanced imaging, and emerging technologies.
