Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD) remain some of the most disabling mental illnesses worldwide, with a high impact on patients’ quality of life, overall functionality, and life expectancy, due not only to the intrinsic evolution of such mental illnesses but also to their associated risk of severe somatic and psychiatric comorbidities and complications. In addition, stigma related to the diagnosis of psychotic disorders negatively interferes with patients’ access to adequate care and hinders treatment and funding of research in this field. In this context, continuous exploration of clinical updates is essential to improve the accuracy of diagnosis, the efficacy of treatment, and the recovery outcomes. The objective of this topic is to collect high-quality research (clinical and epidemiological studies, reviews, and meta-analyses) that could help in the elaboration of new diagnosis methods (including digital technologies) and therapeutic options (such as new-wave antipsychotics).

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
