Orthopedic Approaches to Acute Trauma: Insights and Strategies in Trauma Care

This special issue belongs to the section “Orthopedics“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Acute trauma is a core field in orthopedic surgery, encompassing a broad spectrum of injuries—from fractures and dislocations to complex multi-system trauma—that demand timely, precise, and effective intervention. Optimal management requires close coordination between emergency medicine, surgical teams, and rehabilitation specialists to restore mobility and function.

Some traumatic events may also cause joint injuries with associated ligament damage and cartilage lesions, which, if not addressed appropriately, can lead to early cartilage degeneration. Although these conditions are secondary to the primary trauma, they may significantly affect long-term joint health. Early detection and targeted treatment are crucial to prevent disability and optimize clinical outcomes.

Advances in surgical techniques, imaging technologies, and patient care protocols are driving continuous evolution in orthopedic trauma care. However, significant challenges remain in refining treatment strategies, preventing complications, and maximizing functional recovery.

This Special Issue, Orthopedic Approaches to Acute Trauma: Insights and Strategies in Trauma Care, invites high-quality original research and comprehensive reviews on topics including surgical and non-surgical management, emergency response systems, innovative rehabilitation strategies, complication prevention, and long-term outcome assessment in acute musculoskeletal injuries.

We look forward to contributions that can guide clinical practice and enhance the quality of care for trauma patients.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers).
