Urological Oncology: Clinical Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prognostic Management

Dear Colleagues,

Urological malignancies represent a major and increasingly complex area of contemporary clinical practice. Over recent years, significant advances in diagnostic imaging, surgical technologies, radiation therapy, and systemic treatments have substantially changed the management of patients with urological malignancies. At the same time, the increasing availability of biomarkers, advanced imaging modalities, and novel prognostic tools is progressively supporting a more individualized approach to clinical decision-making.  Despite these advances, several important challenges remain. Accurate diagnosis and risk stratification, appropriate patient selection for local or systemic therapies, optimization of multimodal treatment strategies, prediction of oncological outcomes, and preservation of quality of life remain key priorities. Furthermore, the integration of novel technologies, including artificial intelligence, image-guided approaches, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery, offers new opportunities to improve both cancer control and patient-centered outcomes. 

This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent clinical advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognostic management of urological malignancies. We particularly welcome original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, meta-analyses, and clinically relevant studies addressing innovative diagnostic strategies, risk stratification, surgical and non-surgical treatments, multidisciplinary management, and prognostic assessment. 

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following: Advances in prostate, bladder, kidney, upper urinary tract, testicular, and penile cancer; Novel diagnostic and staging strategies in urological oncology; Multiparametric imaging and image-guided diagnosis; Biomarkers and precision oncology; Risk stratification and prognostic or predictive models; Artificial intelligence and machine-learning applications in urological oncology; Minimally invasive, laparoscopic, robotic, and organ-sparing surgery; Innovations in radical and conservative surgical treatment; Neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and perioperative systemic therapies; Immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and novel systemic treatment strategies; Radiation therapy and multimodal treatment approaches; Management of locally advanced, oligometastatic, and metastatic disease; Multidisciplinary decision-making and personalized treatment pathways; Treatment-related complications, functional outcomes, survivorship, and quality of life; Real-world evidence and comparative effectiveness research in urological oncology. 

We intend for this Special Issue to provide an updated and multidisciplinary overview of current developments in urological oncology and stimulate further clinical research aimed at improving personalized patient care and long-term oncological outcomes.
