Dear Colleagues,
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common inherited cardiomyopathy associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Although remarkable advances in multimodality imaging, molecular genetics and targeted therapies have substantially improved the diagnosis and management of HCM, important clinical challenges remain. Accurate risk stratification for sudden cardiac death, particularly in patients at intermediate risk, continues to represent one of the greatest challenges in clinical practice. Furthermore, the mechanisms underlying genotype–phenotype variability and the determinants of disease progression are still incompletely understood.
At the same time, the rapid evolution of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, genetic testing, artificial intelligence and disease-modifying therapies—including cardiac myosin inhibitors—is reshaping the clinical management of HCM. These developments are enabling a more personalized approach to diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment, bringing precision medicine closer to everyday clinical practice.
This Special Issue aims to present the latest advances in the diagnosis, risk stratification and management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We welcome original research articles, clinical studies and state-of-the-art reviews addressing multimodality imaging, sudden cardiac death prevention, atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, catheter ablation, heart failure, septal reduction therapies, cardiac myosin inhibitors, exercise and sports participation and other innovative approaches that may improve the care of patients with HCM.
