Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This is the second edition of the Special Issue “New Advances in Cardiovascular Diseases: The Cutting Edge” (https://susy.mdpi.com/special_issue/process/1498573).
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, despite continuous advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Building on the success of the previous edition, this second Special Issue aims to provide an updated and comprehensive overview of the latest innovations shaping contemporary cardiovascular medicine, with a particular focus on both clinical and organisational dimensions of care.
We welcome high-quality original research articles and reviews. To ensure a clear and impactful focus, while still embracing the multidisciplinary nature of the field, we have defined three priority subtopics:
- Novel biomarkers and imaging techniques for early detection and risk stratification;
- Artificial intelligence and digital health applications in cardiovascular care;
- Personalised therapeutic strategies, including pharmacotherapy and interventional approaches.
Contributions are strongly encouraged to align with one or more of these core areas.
In addition to advances in pharmacological therapies, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular imaging, this Special Issue places strong emphasis on healthcare organisation and policy-related aspects. Topics of interest include integrated care pathways, hub-and-spoke models, multidisciplinary management, and the implementation of digital health and telemedicine within cardiovascular care.
We are particularly interested in contributions focusing on novel cardiovascular pharmacotherapies, including emerging cardiometabolic and cardiorenal agents, as well as studies addressing the implementation of clinical guidelines in real-world settings. Submissions exploring grey areas in cardiology, where evidence is limited or controversial, are strongly encouraged, as they may help refine clinical decision-making and identify future research priorities.
Furthermore, we welcome papers highlighting emerging diseases, evolving clinical scenarios, and cutting-edge research areas, including early-phase studies and innovative therapeutic approaches. Special attention will also be given to major healthcare challenges, including sustainability, resource allocation, ageing populations, multimorbidity, and disparities in access to care.
In an era of rapid technological evolution and increasing system complexity, this Special Issue aims to bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, combining clinical excellence with organisational insight. By integrating evidence from clinical trials, real-world data, and large-scale surveys, this collection seeks to provide a comprehensive and forward-looking perspective for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare decision-makers.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue
- Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
- Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
- Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
- External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
- Reprint: MDPI Books provides the opportunity to republish successful Special Issues in book format, both online and in print.
