Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Musculoskeletal tumor surgery continues to advance rapidly, driven by improvements in oncologic reconstruction, limb salvage techniques, perioperative care, and outcome research. As survival rates improve for patients with primary and metastatic bone and soft tissue tumors, surgeons more frequently face complex reconstructive challenges that require multidisciplinary approaches and decision-making based on evidence. Simultaneously, growing data sources and analytical methods are transforming how we assess complications, survivorship, and functional recovery in oncologic orthopaedics.
This Special Issue aims to present and share the latest advances in musculoskeletal tumor surgery and reconstruction. We welcome contributions that focus on current surgical techniques, perioperative optimization methods, reconstructive innovations, and outcomes research involving primary bone tumors, soft tissue sarcomas, and metastatic disease. We will emphasize multicenter outcomes studies, and investigations that incorporate modern technologies like navigation, robotics, and data-driven risk modeling.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Limb salvage reconstruction and endoprosthetic techniques
- Management of metastatic bone disease and pathologic fractures
- Perioperative optimization and complication prevention
- Outcomes following oncologic arthroplasty
- Surgical innovation and emerging technologies
- Functional outcomes and survivorship research
We welcome original research articles and reviews advancing care in musculoskeletal oncology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
