Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The craniofacial region comprises some of the most complex and intricate anatomical structures in the human body. As a result of developmental defects, traumatic injury, or neoplastic tissue invasion, the functional and aesthetic intricacies of the face and cranium are often disrupted. Given the crucial requirement of restoring both form and function through craniomaxillofacial care, there is typically an extremely high need for surgical innovation. Fortunately, the rise in regenerative medicine coupled with cutting-edge surgical approaches has expanded the possibilities for patients affected by hard- and soft-tissue deficits, allowing for the controlled engineering and regeneration of patient-specific defects. This Special Issue of the Journal of Clinical Medicine, ‘Maxillofacial Surgery in the Modern Era: Surgical Advances and Clinical Innovation’, showcases the current state-of-the-art in surgical approaches, in tandem with clinical and translational research advances, to bring about the restoration and regeneration of the elaborate craniofacial anatomy.
