Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to explore the expanding translational landscape of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) beyond their established role in metabolic disorders. We welcome contributions addressing molecular mechanisms underlying their pleiotropic effects, including neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and cardiometabolic pathways. Particular emphasis will be placed on emerging applications in neuropsychiatric conditions, addiction, and sleep-related breathing disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, as well as their impact on energy balance and adipose tissue distribution. The Special Issue will also cover pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic considerations, real-world effectiveness, safety profiles, and patterns of off-label use and misuse. Both preclinical and clinical studies, as well as high-quality reviews, are encouraged, with a focus on bridging mechanistic insights and therapeutic implications.
