Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Epigenetic regulation plays a fundamental role in gene expression and cellular function, influencing a wide range of biological processes and disease states. Mechanisms such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, chromatin remodeling, and non-coding RNAs orchestrate dynamic gene regulation without altering the underlying DNA sequence. Various diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndromes, and immune dysfunction, result from dysregulation of these epigenetic processes. Understanding epigenetic control at the molecular level provides crucial insights into disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic strategies.
This Special Issue “Exploring Epigenetic Regulation and Its Impact for Medicine” of IJMS aims to explore the molecular underpinnings of epigenetic regulation and its impact on human health and disease. We invite original research and comprehensive reviews focusing on molecular mechanisms of epigenetic modifications, their interactions with genetic and environmental factors, and their role in disease pathogenesis. Furthermore, epigenome-wide association studies, functional studies on epigenetic regulators, investigations into chromatin dynamics and RNA-mediated gene silencing are particularly welcome. We also encourage studies integrating multi-omics approaches and computational models to unravel epigenetic complexity.
Through this Special Issue, we aim to advance our understanding of epigenetic regulation and its translational potential in medicine.
