Dear Colleagues,
The development of the polymer biomaterials for urology relies on the design and synthesis of novel polymers to achieve targeted properties and the processing and modification of polymer materials to obtain specific functionality. It also entails designing different drug delivery systems to achieve specific therapeutic potential. In all cases, it is important to understand the relationship between polymer composition, the structure of the polymer chain, architecture, interactions and the functionality or release of active substances.
The aim of this Special Issue is to present the latest advancements in the development of innovative polymer biomaterials to address different urological disorders. Biomaterials, including natural and synthetic polymers, are being engineered to create scaffolds that support tissue regeneration and repair. They are used as implants, grafts, and devices to repair, replace, or enhance urinary tract function, including catheters, stents, penile/sphincter implants, and materials for bladder/vaginal reconstruction. Biomaterials with enhanced functionality, acting as a drug delivery system for releasing various active substances/drugs tailored for urological applications are also in the scope of this Special Issue, along with molecular-level mechanisms responsible for the observed functionality.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
