Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) encompass a diverse group of individually rare disorders that affect the peripheral nervous system, neuromuscular junction, and muscle and motor neurons in children and adults and that lead to an impaired quality of life and mild-to-severe disability. In the last century, remarkable advances in molecular biology and genetics have significantly transformed our understanding of their underlying mechanisms, revealing potential therapeutic targets to treat previously incurable diseases. Indeed, gene- and mechanism-based therapies have transformed our approach to the clinical management and genetic counseling of patients with neuromuscular disorders.
This Special Issue, ‘Molecular Insights into Neuromuscular Diseases’, will bring together cutting-edge translational original research and reviews that explore the molecular basis of these disorders and emerging molecular biomarkers, ultimately aiming to improve clinical outcomes for patients affected by neuromuscular disorders.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
