Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Bioactive compounds are derived from biomolecules and extracts from plants or animals. While most bioactive compounds have a proven positive effect on human health and recovery from several diseases, some unwanted side effects cannot be entirely ruled out. Therefore, data from scientific research on bioactive compounds and their applications at molecular, cellular and organismal levels is extremely useful for developing a new strategy for maintaining health and longevity. This Special Issue aims to represent high-quality, modern research and current knowledge on the application of bioactive compounds.
This Special Issue invites researchers to submit reviews and original research reports on their recent work investigating the properties of bioactive compounds at the molecular, cellular, or organismal levels. Subtopics may include the following:
- Cellular metabolism of bioactive compounds;
- Genotoxicity and allergenicity of bioactive compounds;
- Epigenetic influence of bioactive compounds;
- Bioactive compounds and aging.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
