Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Emulsion-based systems play a key role in pharmaceutical science due to their unique physicochemical properties and versatility as functional platforms. Their physical and chemical characteristics make them particularly attractive for drug delivery applications and provide opportunities for innovative biocatalytic reactions. This Special Issue aims to present recent advances in the design, characterization, and application of emulsion systems, with particular emphasis on their stability, interfacial phenomena, and functional performance. Topics of interest include physicochemical stability studies, rheological and structural characterization, as well as the role of surfactants, polymers, and stabilizing agents in emulsion systems. In addition, this Special Issue will cover emerging applications of emulsions in pharmaceutical technology, including drug delivery systems and enzyme-based reactions. Special attention will be given to the use of emulsions as reaction media for biocatalysis, applications of immobilized enzymes, and the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant compounds, including chiral drugs. By combining fundamental and applied perspectives, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of emulsion systems as multifunctional tools in modern pharmaceutical research, including green and sustainable approaches in pharmaceutical sciences and biocatalysis.
