Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neuropathic and inflammatory pain remain among the most prevalent and debilitating chronic conditions worldwide, imposing a substantial burden on patients, healthcare systems, and society. Despite advances in understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying pain, clinical management often remains inadequate, highlighting the need for continued research into pain processing and modulation.
This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, and perspectives focused on the pharmacology of neuropathic and inflammatory pain. We welcome interdisciplinary contributions investigating molecular targets, signaling pathways, ion channels, neuroimmune interactions, peripheral and central sensitization mechanisms, biomarkers, and translational approaches relevant to pain modulation.
Particular emphasis will be placed on studies involving natural products, medicinal plants, venom-derived bioactive compounds, toxins, peptides, biologics, synthetic molecules, drug repurposing strategies, and advanced drug delivery systems. Contributions addressing diabetic neuropathy, neuroinflammation, sexually dimorphic mechanisms of pain, sex-specific pharmacological responses, precision pain medicine, pharmacogenomics, and the application of proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and other omics technologies in pain research are especially encouraged.
This Special Issue seeks to provide a multidisciplinary platform for disseminating recent advances in pain pharmacology and expanding our understanding of the mechanisms underlying neuropathic and inflammatory pain.
