From Environmental Health Inequalities to Environmental Health Justice

Dear Colleagues,

Research in environmental justice has been increasing in the last few years. With regard to the health sector, environmental justice has been used synonymously with environmental inequalities, assuming that the distribution of pollution, and the resultant impact on human health and well-being, are generally spread nonuniformly among the population. More recently, the following different declinations have been proposed: exposure and access inequalities, in the view of an unequal distribution of environmental quality between individuals and groups; policy effect inequalities, namely, the unequal effect of environmental policies; impact inequalities, that is, the unequal environmental impact of individuals and social groups with regard to their incomes and/or lifestyles; and policy-making inequalities, considered as the unequal access to environmental policy-making.

We call for papers dealing with topics related to health and environment in the view of the previous different declinations of environmental health justice.

Manuscript Submission Information

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
