Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Horticultural crops are a significant source of phytochemicals and bioactive compounds, possessing important nutritional, functional, and health-promoting properties. Advances in analytical methods have deepened our understanding of phytochemical diversity and antioxidant activity in fruits, vegetables, and other horticultural species. In addition to their antioxidant potential, these crops may exhibit antimicrobial, antifungal, and prebiotic properties, further enhancing their functional value.
This Special Issue, Phytochemical Diversity and Bioactive Substances in Horticultural Crops, aims to provide a platform for high-quality research and review articles that explore the phytochemical composition, bioactivity evaluation, and functional applications of horticultural crops. Contributions addressing comparative studies, environmental and genetic influences on phytochemical profiles, the development of innovative analytical approaches, the mechanisms of antioxidant, antimicrobial, prebiotic, or other biological activity, and potential applications of bioactive phytochemicals of horticultural crops in agriculture, food production, and nutrition are particularly welcome. By highlighting the diversity and multifunctional potential of horticultural crops, this Special Issue seeks to foster knowledge exchange and encourage interdisciplinary research in plant science, food science, and nutrition.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Horticulturae is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
