Internet of Things (IoT) in Smart City

This special issue belongs to the section “Internet of Things“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in smart cities has gained significant attention due to its potential to enhance urban living, sustainability, and efficiency. The IoT in smart city systems encompasses a wide range of applications, including smart transportation, smart grid, energy management, healthcare, public safety, and environmental monitoring. As these systems become more complex and interconnected, addressing the unique challenges and exploring innovative solutions becomes crucial.

This Special Issue aims to present cutting-edge research on IoT in smart city systems, focusing on addressing the challenges associated with their design, deployment, and operation. It seeks to gather high-quality contributions and comprehensive review papers that explore novel frameworks, methodologies, algorithms, and applications to advance the state-of-the-art in this field. The purpose of this Special Issue is to collect selected papers reporting on topics including the latest IoT technologies and schemes for building sustainable and livable smart cities, ranging from theoretical advancements to practical implementations, with a particular emphasis on IoT-enabled smart transportation systems, smart grid IoT, efficient and optimized operation strategies, IoT-based healthcare systems, security and privacy in IoT-enabled smart cities, environmental monitoring and sustainability in smart cities, integration of edge computing, cloud computing, IoT for efficient data processing and real-time analytics, intelligent IoT infrastructure and network management, etc. By addressing the challenges and exploring new opportunities, we can pave the way for a future where IoT-driven smart cities enhance the quality of life for citizens worldwide.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
