Challenges and Opportunities in the Global Clean Energy Transition—2nd Edition
This special issue belongs to the section “B2: Clean Energy“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global clean energy transition is entering a decisive phase, in which the large-scale deployment of renewable energy sources must be accompanied by advances in power electronics, intelligent control, digitalization, and system-level integration. Building on the themes introduced in https://www.mdpi.com/journal/energies/special_issues/9E21J9170O, this 2nd Edition of the Special Issue aims to further explore emerging technological, methodological, and systemic solutions that enable resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy systems.
2nd Edition places particular emphasis on advanced power conversion and control, grid integration of renewable and distributed energy resources, energy storage systems, and cyber–physical and data-driven approaches that support the operation of modern energy infrastructures. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, high-efficiency DC–DC and DC–AC converters, resonant and soft-switching techniques, robust and intelligent control strategies, digital twins, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in energy systems, and reliability and lifetime assessment of power electronic components.
The Special Issue also welcomes contributions addressing system-level challenges, such as flexibility, stability, interoperability, and resilience of power networks under high penetration of renewables, as well as techno-economic and sustainability-oriented analyses. By bringing together interdisciplinary research from power electronics, control engineering, energy systems, and applied mathematics, 2nd Edition seeks to provide insights and solutions that support the next stage of the global clean energy transition.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
