Trends and Challenges in Power System Stability and Control: 2nd Edition
This special issue belongs to the section “F: Electrical Engineering“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As the energy sector undergoes rapid evolution, power systems worldwide face unprecedented challenges. The integration of renewable energy sources, the advent of distributed generation, and the growing demands of modern infrastructure are reshaping how power systems are designed, operated, and controlled. With the large-scale integration of renewable energy, power system stability faces new challenges. The intermittency and volatility of new energy sources like solar and wind power pose difficulties for system frequency and voltage control. Power system stability is crucial for ensuring reliable power supply, reducing operating costs, protecting the ecological environment, and promoting economic development. It is affected by various factors such as load changes, power generation fluctuations, equipment aging, and natural disasters. These factors can lead to system instability and trigger serious accidents. To enhance stability, scholars have explored numerous control strategies.
In addition, the application of intelligent technologies in power systems has become a trend. Technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data can be used for power system fault diagnosis, predictive maintenance, and optimal dispatching, improving system operation efficiency and stability. The development of smart grids and microgrids also provides new ideas for power system stability control, enhancing the flexibility and reliability of the system.
This Special Issue aims to highlight the latest trends, research, and innovations in the field of power system analysis and control.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- electricity market;
- market clearing;
- power system control;
- power system stability;
- power system operation;
- renewable energy resources;
- intelligent techniques;
- power system analysis;
- power system protection

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
