Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In recent years, the paradigm of energy management and industrial systems has undergone significant transformations, largely driven by advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Integrating smart systems into energy grids and industrial operations has not only enhanced efficiency and sustainability but also paved the way for innovative solutions to improve resource management, optimize processes, and reduce environmental impacts. This area of research is crucial, as it addresses both the growing energy demands of industries and the need for more environmentally friendly practices.

We invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, titled "Recent Progress for Smart Energy and Industrial IoT," which will compile cutting-edge research exploring the intersection of smart energy systems and industrial IoT applications. This Special Issue aligns with the scope of the MDPI Journal Energies by focusing on innovative designs, implementations, and frameworks that enhance energy efficiency and manage industrial processes using IoT technologies.

Aims of the Special Issue

This Special Issue will gather a comprehensive collection of original research articles and reviews that scrutinize recent advancements in the field and their implications for energy systems and the industrial IoT. We encourage submissions that highlight unique methodologies, innovative applications, case studies, and comprehensive reviews that contribute to the growth of this dynamic field. This will enable a comprehensive understanding of smart energy solutions and IoT innovations while also addressing the challenges and barriers impeding their practical implementation. We hope to collect at least 15-20 high-quality contributions, and if this threshold is reached, this Special Issue may be published in book form.

Suggested Themes and Article Types

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following themes:

  1. Smart grid technologies and their applications;
  2. Renewable energy integration with IoT systems;
  3. Energy management systems for industrial applications;
  4. Cybersecurity in industrial IoT environments;
  5. Data analytics and machine learning for energy optimization;
  6. Case studies demonstrating successful IoT implementations in energy sectors;
  7. Sustainable practices in energy-intensive industries;
  8. Policy implications of smart energy technologies;
  9. IoT-based monitoring and control for energy efficiency;
  10. Future directions and innovations in smart energy and the industrial IoT.

We look forward to receiving your contributions and exploring the promising advancements in this essential field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
