Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The global imperative for sustainable energy solutions has propelled biofuel production and bioprocess technology to the forefront of innovation. As we navigate towards a greener future, advancements in biofuel production and bioprocess technology hold immense significance in mitigating climate change, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and fostering environmental sustainability.

In our upcoming Special Issue, "Breaking Ground: Advancements in Biofuel Production and Bioprocess Technology", we aim to explore the latest developments in biofuel production and bioprocess technology and focus on the significant roles these advancements play in shaping our energy landscape. This Special Issue seeks to highlight novel approaches, methodologies, and technologies that drive the efficient and sustainable production of biofuels, with particular emphasis on algae, plants, and other sustainable biofuel species.

Topics may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Significance of biofuel production: We invite contributions that delve into the importance of biofuel production in addressing pressing environmental challenges, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting energy security. Papers that discuss the economic, social, and environmental impacts of biofuel production are highly encouraged.
  • Latest advancements in production and bioprocess technologies: Manuscripts that present cutting-edge research on novel production techniques, bioprocess optimization, and technological innovations in biofuel production are welcomed. This includes advancements in fermentation, enzymatic processes, genetic engineering, and biorefinery technologies aiming to enhance biofuel yield, quality, and sustainability.
  • Review and research on sustainable biofuel species: We invite submissions that focus on the cultivation, processing, and utilization of algae, plants, fungi, and other sustainable biofuel species for biofuel production. Contributions that explore genetic manipulation, metabolic engineering, cultivation strategies, and downstream processing techniques specific to these biofuel sources are of particular interest.

We encourage researchers, scientists, engineers, and industry professionals working in the field of biofuel production and bioprocess technology to contribute their original research articles, review papers, and short communications to this Special Issue. Together, let us showcase the groundbreaking advancements that are propelling the biofuel industry towards a more sustainable future.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
