Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The integration of distributed generation, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, and advanced power electronic devices into modern power and energy systems has significantly complicated their operation and management due to increasing system complexity and operational uncertainties. This paradigm shift necessitates the development and adoption of sophisticated optimization techniques and intelligent control strategies to effectively manage and optimize these evolving energy infrastructures.

In this context, this Special Issue, "Optimization and Control of Power and Energy Systems", stands poised to chart a significant course in advancing our understanding and practical applications within this critical domain.

Modern power and energy systems, positioned at the intersection of technological innovation and intelligent automation, represent a pivotal nexus in our contemporary energy landscape. Their optimal operation and intelligent control are not only crucial for meeting escalating energy demands but are also imperative for ensuring system reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.

Aligned with the journal's overarching scope, this Special Issue aims to highlight the intersection of optimization and control within power and energy system paradigms. Our goal is to curate a diverse array of contributions that elucidate and catalyze advancements and innovations within this vital sphere.

Themes worth exploring encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Optimization techniques for power system operation and planning;
  • Advanced control strategies for distributed energy resources;
  • Energy storage system optimization and management;
  • Microgrid and smart grid optimization and control;
  • Power electronics control and optimization;
  • AI/ML applications in power system optimization and control;
  • Real-time optimization and predictive control strategies;
  • Economic dispatch and energy market optimization;
  • Grid stability and voltage control optimization;
  • Energy management systems and demand response optimization;
  • Power quality optimization and harmonic control;
  • Electric vehicle integration and charging optimization.

We invite original research articles and comprehensive reviews that uncover new dimensions, explore novel methodologies, or present insightful analyses within these areas. Through this collaborative endeavor, we aim to enrich our collective knowledge and foster innovative solutions for the challenges and opportunities inherent in the optimization and control of modern power and energy systems.

We eagerly anticipate the diverse and illuminating contributions that will enrich this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
