Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including wearable and smart home devices, industrial IoT systems, and autonomous vehicles, security and privacy protection have become issues that can no longer be overlooked. While these technologies bring great convenience to everyday life, they also introduce new vulnerabilities and risks. The threat landscape has expanded from traditional network attacks and hardware exploits to emerging side-channel and privacy breaches enabled by wireless sensing and electromagnetic radiation analysis. Moreover, the increasing ubiquity and miniaturization of IoT devices have created novel forms of privacy invasion, accompanied by complex social and economic influences. This Special Issue calls for original research articles and comprehensive surveys that explore and address the emerging security and privacy challenges of current IoT devices, systems, and ecosystems, and their broader societal and economic effects. For this Special Issue, we aim to provide new perspectives and valuable knowledge to advance the ongoing discourse on IoT security and privacy.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Cyber–physical system security;
- IoT hardware security;
- IoT network security;
- Privacy protection in IoT applications;
- Security in edge intelligence;
- Secure sensing;
- Federated learning and differential privacy;
- Embedded system security;
- Wireless communication security;
- The development of datasets and benchmarks that support IoT security and privacy.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
