Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the Special Issue “Creativity for Life: Educational Pathways to Lifelong Innovation” in Education Sciences. In today’s complex and fast-evolving world, education must adapt to meet the diverse needs of learners and societies. Creativity, recognized as a vital skill for problem-solving, adaptability, and innovation, serves as a transformative force in teaching and learning across all educational levels and contexts.

This Special Issue highlights that creativity is not a uniform ability but often domain-specific. For instance, a learner may exhibit creativity in mathematics but not in music, or in art but not in literature. Understanding how creativity manifests and is nurtured within distinct disciplines is essential for designing educational practices that unlock each learner’s unique potential.

We invite theoretical, empirical, and practice-based contributions exploring creativity’s role in transforming educational environments, enhancing engagement, fostering critical thinking, and promoting inclusive, meaningful learning. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary approaches and innovative pedagogies that position creativity as a driver of curriculum design, teacher development, educational policy, and digital learning.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Theories and models of domain-specific creativity (e.g., in mathematics, science, arts, or languages) and their educational implications.
  • Innovative teaching methods that foster creativity and critical thinking within specific subjects or across curricula.
  • Case studies of creative practices in classrooms or out-of-school settings, emphasizing domain-specific examples.
  • Methods for assessing and measuring creativity in various domains and its impact on learning outcomes.
  • Professional development programs enhancing teachers’ creative capacities in specific subject areas.
  • Technology-enhanced creative practices tailored to particular disciplines.
  • Interdisciplinary perspectives on creativity and educational innovation.
  • Barriers and enablers in integrating domain-specific creativity into educational policies and reforms.

Original research articles, theoretical perspectives, reviews, implementation studies, and practical reports are all welcome. We encourage contributions from a global perspective and from all educational levels and settings.
