Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The mental health and resilience of children and adolescents positively impact their cognitive, emotional, and social development, yet these domains are increasingly challenged by developmental tasks, individual differences, and global adversities such as pandemics, educational and socio-economic inequalities. Recent research has found that greater resilience is associated with fewer mental health problems, even in the face of significant stressors.
This Special Issue of Children focuses on how individual, family, school, and broader contextual factors influence resilience and mental health across typical and atypical developmental trajectories in children and adolescents. This Special Issue will particularly focus on the protective factors, risks, and effective interventions that empower young people to navigate today’s global and developmental challenges.
We welcome the submission of original research articles, systematic reviews, brief reports, case studies, and editorials. Contributions that address underrepresented populations, innovative practices, and interdisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged. This is in order to provide insights into evidence-based practices and policies that foster healthy and adaptive development in diverse populations.
