Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce a call for contributions to a Special Issue focused on “Professional Ethics for Early Childhood Educators”. This Special Issue aims to explore the ethical dimensions of early childhood education, emphasising the critical role that ethics play in shaping the professionalism and practice of educators working with young children. As early childhood educators navigate complex relationships with children, families, and communities, a deeper understanding of professional ethics is essential for fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high-quality educational environment. This Special Issue seeks to gather diverse perspectives, research findings, and best practices that illuminate the ethical challenges and considerations faced by early childhood educators. We invite your submissions that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  • Analysing existing codes of conduct and their relevance to early childhood education settings.
  • Presenting case studies that illustrate ethical dilemmas faced by early childhood educators in the real-world contexts.
  • Discussing the ethical responsibilities and implications of engaging with families and communities in early childhood education to serve the best interests of the child.
  • Examining how socio-cultural contexts influence ethical practices and shape the ethical landscape of early childhood education.
  • Reflecting the importance of ongoing ethical training and professional development enhancing ethical awareness and professional judgement.

We welcome a variety of submission types, including empirical research, theoretical papers, case studies, reflective essays, and practical guides. Contributions should demonstrate significant engagement with the ongoing dialogue about professional ethics in early childhood education and provide insights that can inform the development of practice and policy. I look forward to your submissions and to fostering an enriching discussion on this important topic.
