Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The use of molecular techniques for disease diagnosis and management is gaining importance in laboratory medicine. Rapidly emerging novel pathogens and complex diseases pose challenges and difficulties in making accurate diagnoses in a timely manner. In recent years, a significant number of tremendous advancements have been seen in the field of molecular diagnostics. The rapid developments of new diagnostic technologies are opening up new opportunities that enable personalized treatment to tailor medical treatments to the individual characteristics of each patient, disease monitoring, and improve patient outcomes.
For example, the advent of sequencing technologies and the emergence of different sequencing platforms have facilitated the use of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) technologies in the clinical diagnosis of infectious diseases via a comprehensive, high-throughput, and massively parallel detection of any pathogens in the specimen. Single-cell sequencing technologies allow characterization of individual cells at the genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic levels. It can identify different cell types within a complex tissue or organ in order to detect rare cells such as tumor cells. These new molecular diagnostic technologies have revolutionized the way we detect, manage, and treat diseases.
In this Special Issue, we are pleased to invite original research articles, reviews, and case reports on the applications of the latest molecular diagnostics. We believe these will have a considerable impact on the future development of accurate diagnostic technologies and precise management of diseases. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
