Epigenetic Markers and Cytokines to Increase the Prevention of the Development of Invasive Cancer

Cytokines are the main driving forces of acute and chronic inflammation, which play an important role in cancer initiation.

Epigenetic events have also been implicated in the development of invasive cancer. It has been shown that epigenetic markers have the potential to predict oncogenic development. Epigenetic DNA expression alterations are induced by disruption of the balance between DNA and specific molecules. Some of the mechanisms involved include DNA methylation, histone protein modifications, and non-coding RNA regulation by microRNA inhibition of gene expression.
