Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The urgent global demand for high-performance energy storage solutions has placed advanced materials and surface chemistry at the forefront of scientific innovation. To achieve higher energy densities and enhanced safety, it is critical to understand and control the complex electrochemical processes occurring at the material interfaces.

This Special Issue, entitled "Emerging Materials and Interface Chemistry for High-Efficiency Energy Storage and Conversion" aims to showcase the latest breakthroughs in the design, synthesis, and characterization of next-generation energy materials. We particularly encourage contributions that explore innovative electrolyte formulations, electrode surface modification, interphase (SEI/CEI) engineering, and advanced surface coating strategies for batteries and supercapacitors. Furthermore, we welcome studies focused on root-cause failure analysis and the application of advanced diagnostic techniques to unravel degradation mechanisms.

We invite researchers to submit original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and short communications that push the boundaries of energy storage technology from fundamental science to practical application.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
