Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Special Issue titled “Advances and Challenges in Coating Materials for Battery Cathodes”, to be published in the journal Coatings. As the demand for more efficient and sustainable energy storage solutions increases, the development of advanced coating materials for battery cathodes has become a critical area of research. This Issue will address the pivotal role of batteries in modern energy systems, with a special focus on the sustainability and performance of cathode materials.

The focus of this Special Issue is to explore innovative coating technologies that enhance the electrochemical performance and environmental stability of battery cathodes. In-depth studies cover various deposition techniques, lifecycle analyses, and the environmental impact of these materials. It will highlight practical applications and case studies demonstrating the benefits of these advanced coating technologies in real-world settings.

Topics covered will delve into hybrid materials that combine organic and inorganic components, advances in thin film technologies, nanocomposite coatings, and the development of protective coatings that prevent degradation. Additionally, it will explore the scalability of these technologies from lab to production, computational modeling for design optimization, and the interactions between coatings and electrolytes.

This scope of this Special Issue will serve as a forum for papers on the following concepts:

Hybrid Materials: Exploration of composite coatings that combine organic and inorganic materials to improve electrochemical performance and stability.

Thin Films for Battery Cathodes: Advances in thin film technologies that enhance the interface properties and contribute to the overall battery efficiency and cycle life.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
