Architectural and Infrastructure Coatings
A section of Coatings (ISSN 2079-6412).
Section Information
The Architectural and Infrastructure Coatings section of Coatings welcomes high-quality, original research that explores coatings used in both architectural contexts and infrastructure. This section will cover a broad range of topics related to protective, functional, and aesthetic coatings applied to materials and structures in the construction sector. These coatings play a vital role in enhancing the durability, performance, and appearance of both new and existing buildings and infrastructure, offering solutions to challenges such as corrosion, weathering, environmental degradation, and energy efficiency. Additionally, these coatings can give rise to new properties, such air pollutants abatement in our cities.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Coatings for architectural and infrastructure.
- Innovations in architectural coatings that improve mechanical properties.
- Development of infrastructure coatings that offer enhanced protection against moisture, corrosion, and temperature extremes.
- Sustainable and eco-friendly coating technologies for building and civil engineering applications.
- Smart coatings and self-healing materials that can autonomously repair damage or adapt to environmental changes.
- Coatings modifying surface wetting by producing superhydrophobic and self-cleaning performances.
- Photoactive coatings producing air pollutants abatement.
- Coatings to preserve built cultural heritage, including consolidants and hydrophobic treatments.
- Validation of coatings effectiveness and durability on site, at outdoors conditions.
- Surface preparation, deposition techniques, and application methods specific to construction materials.
