Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rational design of new chemical compounds with specific biological potential plays a key role in modern medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. This approach involves the deliberate and targeted creation of molecules based on knowledge of their structure, physicochemical properties, and mechanisms of biological action. An important tool supporting this process is molecular modeling, which enables the simulation of interactions between a designed compound and its biological target. Moreover, the rational approach allows for the design of compounds with specific pharmacokinetic properties (ADME: absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion), which increases the likelihood of success in later stages of clinical trials. It also helps to reduce the risk of adverse effects. Our Special Issue will present the most interesting research focused on the design of bioactive molecules that may serve as potential drugs in the treatment of lifestyle-related diseases. Particular attention is paid to studies on the biotransformation of organic compounds and the organic synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant substances. It is expected that submitted articles will not only evaluate the biological activity of the studied compounds but also offer detailed analyses of their mechanisms of action or proposed mechanistic pathways, supported by results obtained using molecular modeling.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Current Issues in Molecular Biology is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
