Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Anomalies in the craniofacial region can vary in severity and have a significant impact on physical and social development, communication, appearance, and other areas of child development. A multidisciplinary team of surgeons, geneticists, speech therapists, and other specialists is frequently involved in the treatment of craniofacial abnormalities. The specific anomaly determines the strategy employed, including the following:
- Surgical intervention to improve cranial or facial appearance as well as enhance function.
- Orthodontics to improve dental alignment and occlusion.
- Speech therapy to advance communication skills.
- Hearing rehabilitation by hearing aids or implants.
- Psychological support for social and emotional challenges.
Advances in surgical techniques, genetic counselling, and supportive therapies have significantly improved outcomes for children with craniofacial anomalies. Early intervention, along with a collaborative approach, is crucial to achieving the best possible results for these individuals.
The upcoming Special Issue of Children on pediatric craniofacial surgery is scheduled for release, and we invite you to submit an article on the latest advances and prospects in pediatric craniofacial surgery.
